Thanksgiving VI ~
17-23 November: This week, I was thankful for our Father's longsuffering with my slowness to learn His ways (those ways are ALWAYS best!); thankful, SO thankful, that He is trust-worthy, always faithful to His promises; thankful to read this new translation of a verse memorized in childhood: " Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your word makes my pathway clear." (Psalm 119:105; TPT); thankful to have noticed - thru' my curtain - the warm flushed, rosy sky being painted by the Master Artist; thankful for yesterday's half-mile walks outdoors, between rain showers; thankful to know that Jesus prayed for me, too, when He said: "They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world. Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching," (John 17:16-18, 20; AMPC); thankful for legs that can carry me UP the hill north of us without any need to stop and rest; thankful to have started the five-week study/application of Ann Voskamp's "One Thousand Gifts" via my computer feed; thankful to read The Voice's translation of Psalm 1:1-2 where this is written: "God’s blessings follow you and await you at every turn: when you don’t follow the advice of those who delight in wicked schemes, when you avoid sin’s highway, when judgment and sarcasm beckon you, but you refuse. For you, the Eternal’s Word is your happiness. It is your focus—from dusk to dawn." ; thankful for D.D.'s companion, a delightful young woman who is coming five morning a week to assist and to provide company other than those who live in this domicile; thankful for our Father's healing power - a power seen time after time in my own life and in the lives of others (along with faith to trust HIS timing - if not now, healing WILL come when our Savior returns - 1 Corinthians 15:51-55); thankful for this beautiful passage from Psalm 95:1-2 where it is written: "O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.: (KJV); thankful for the helper that will be coming a couple of hours a week to assist D.D. in doing a blessing for our home; thankful for the sunny day beginning even now; thankful to share in this thought from 1 Corinthians 1:4-5 where it is written: "I am continuously thanking my God for you when I think about the grace God has offered you in Jesus the Anointed. In this grace, God is enriching every aspect of your lives by gifting you with the right words to say and everything you need to know." (VOICE); thankful that eldest D.D.survived a fall last night tho' the hairdresser may have a problem with the staples and sutures on her scalp; thankful that the skies remain clear as the sun begins to peak over the hill to the east of us; thankful as I read this passage from Colossians 3:15-16 where it is written: " Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking. It is for peace that you were chosen to be together in one body. And always be thankful. Let the teaching of Christ live inside you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God." (ERV); thankful for another Sabbath (and to know our new helper is ALSO a Sabbath keeper!); thankful that D.D.'s swollen hand has been seen and referred to an orthopod for possible surgery on a fractured finger; thankful for this ancient song of praise from Psalm 100:4-5 where it is written: "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations." (NKJV).
