My Year of Thanksgiving

Giving thanks for rain, and its reminder of the words of Hosea promising God's work in me (Hosea 6:3), and of the prophet Joel as he wrote of rain as a spiritual blessing (Joel 2:23, 28, 29); for the thrilling mission stories I find at www.maranatha.org ; for the long-lasting amaryllis blossom in my kitchen (It is no longer attached to its bulb as it was very energetic in its following of light.  Next time it will be in a much heavier pot!).
. . . for encouraging words of Christian writers; for light to read and for that Light which brightens our homeward path (Psalm119:105); for all the growing things in my window.
. . . for dry roads as we went to McCall (after reports of icy conditions earlier); for my sister as a willing helper; for the principle of saving remnants, those little bits of . . . .  that are left over, the loose change - pennies, nickels, and dimes - saved over the past year provided more than $18.00 for missions.
. . . for fuel-oil that warms this house, for resources sufficient to remain in this house instead of having to relocate into a less costly rental when one portion of the household income ended; for the many ways in which all my needs are provided by a loving heavenly Father.
. . . for the messages in the Word, its guidelines for a life of blessing; for all the promises therein, especially those where God's words are quoted verbatim (as in Ezekiel 36:22 and on);for all the evidences of our loving Creator in the natural world around us.
. . . for restful sleep, and waking refreshed to a new morning; for music, for the hymns of praise that are the best start for any morning; for years of Flylady's encouragement.
. . . for the "power in praise" concept; for the delight in a "sharing" conversation with a dear neighbor; for the many miles of traveling mercies which have blessed my family and me.
