Thanksgiving X ~

20-26 November:  During the past week, I was thankful for beautiful days - not a cloud in the skies I could see from here; thankful for the blessing of an early morning post on my phone;  thankful for our Father's promises to hear our prayers in Psalm 5:3 and Psalm 66:19 where we read: "I lift my voice to You, Eternal One, and You answer me from Your sacred heights. ... Surely God has heard me; He has paid attention to the urgency of my request." (VOICE); thankful for the helper that comes a few hours each week-day to assist D.D. and me in doing blessings for our home; thankful for the sunlight even when it is obscured by clouds; thankful to share in this thought from 1 Corinthians 1:4-5 where it is written: "I am continuously thanking my God for you when I think about the grace God has offered you in Jesus the Anointed. In this grace, God is enriching every aspect of your lives by gifting you with the right words to say and everything you need to know." (VOICE); thankful for "anytime" Thanksgivings with family and friends; thankful for only twenty-nine days before our star begins to make its way back toward this part of the earth; thankful for the counsel of Colossians 3:15 which reads: "And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]" (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition); thankful for the new over-bed lamp the D.D. affixed to the wall instead of just providing the repair part I'd asked for; thankful for the success of using a Slo-cooker to bake sweet potatoes to my point of perfection; thankful as I consider this counsel from Psalm 100:4-5 where it is written: "Go through His gates, giving thanks; walk through His courts, giving praise. Offer Him your gratitude and praise His holy name. Because the Eternal is good, His loyal love and mercy will never end, and His truth will last throughout all generations." (VOICE).  It is with much gratitude that I greeted this tenth year of Thanksgiving posts - thankful for the long life the Creator has given; I was thankful for the loving family that surrounds me at home and with other believers around the globe; thankful as I consider this passage from Colossians 2:6-7 where it is written: "... Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." (New International Version); thankful for "plan-overs" in the fridge and the freezers - the feast will be lasting a lo-o-ong time! I was thankful to be marking the birthday of my youngest descendants, the ones who are fraternal twins as was my maternal grandfather; thankful as I consider this passage from Colossians 3:17 where it is written: "Everything you do or say should be done ·to obey [or as a representative of; ....] the Lord Jesus. And in all you do, give thanks to God the Father through Jesus." (The Expanded Bible); thankful for another Sabbath, as a day to consider the wonderful works of the Creator of all that is beautiful in the world around us as He Himself planned when He finished His work (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:8-11); thankful for the beauty of a misty morning - all the hard edges of my world outside softened by the drifts of fog; and I was thankful for this message to believers from Hebrews 12:28 where we read: "... Let us all be thankful that we are a part of an unshakable Kingdom and offer to God worship that pleases Him and reflects the awe and reverence we have toward Him," (VOICE).
