Thanksgiving VII ~

4-10 October:  During this last week, I was thankful for another day of life, and a choice in it to glorify my Creator; thankful to get a glimpse of His holiness as I peruse His Word; thankful to read this cautionary note from Proverbs 27:1 where it is written: "Don’t brag about what may happen tomorrow because you have no idea what it will bring." (VOICE); thankful for restful slumber through the hours of darkness;  thankful to wake with a prayer in my heart; thankful to read this message from Isaiah 55:6-7 where it is written: "Turn to the Lord before it’s too late. Call out to Him while He’s still ready to help you. ... Let them turn to the Lord. The Lord will show them his tender love. Let them turn to our God. He is always ready to forgive." (NIRV); thankful that the Word of God - the Holy Scriptures - have been preserved for our use today; thankful that the message, through the ages, is ALL about Jesus, ending in a grand finale in the book of Revelation; thankful for this assurance from Isaiah 26:4 where we read: "So trust in the Eternal One forever, for He is like a great Rock—strong, stable, trustworthy, and lasting." (VOICE); thankful for the "angels with skin on" who fill my life; thankful that the leaves of autumn don't just turn brown and fall from the trees, but that the Creator has provided for us a glorious blaze of color as the trees get ready for the winter; thankful to echo the words of the psalmist from Psalm 63:1 where we read: "O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You; my soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." (AMP); thankful to know that He who has started a good work in me will complete it (Philippians 1:6); thankful for all the wonderful "I will ...." promises in God's Word; thankful for this affirmation from Isaiah 43:11-12 where it is written: " I, I am the Eternal; there is no Savior except for Me, I alone told that this victory would happen. Then I saved you and made it known. No other god worked among you—You know the truth. You can testify that it is so; as I declare, I alone am God." (VOICE); thankful for the blessing of a whole day to make certain my preparation for the Sabbath - and for help as others take up what I'm so slow to accomplish; thankful for the increasing colors of autumn around me; thankful for this admonition from Deuteronomy 13:4 where we read: "Remain loyal to Him! Fear Him and obey His commands. Listen to His voice. Worship Him alone. Be fervently devoted to Him. " (VOICE); thankful for another Sabbath, the Lord's chosen day for rest (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:8-11); thankful anticipating time with my church family this morning; thankful, too, as I considered this admonition from Proverbs 19:20-21 where it is written: "Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come. Many plans are in a [person's] mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose ... that will stand." (AMPC).
