Thanksgiving VI ~

25 November-1 December:  This week, I have been thankful for the news that the travelers safely reached their half-way stop as they return toward Colorado; thankful for the forecasts of clear weather as they complete their journey between storms; thankful to remember this passage from Psalm 57:1-2 where we read: "O God, have pity, for I am trusting you! I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until this storm is past. I will cry to the God of heaven who does such wonders for me." (TLB); thankful to remember the little song my children learned years ago - it goes "Jesus sends the angels, angels, angels; Jesus sends the angels to watch us when we're [driving]" especially as D.D. and her husband negotiated I-80 (with sections intermittently closed for snow removal or to remove tipped-over vehicles/big-rigs) and arrived home safely yesterday; thankful also for the visit with my sister who came from British Columbia for our Thanksgiving holiday; thankful as I considered these words from Hebrews 12:28 where they are written: "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that can’t be shaken, let’s continue to express our gratitude. With this gratitude, let’s serve in a way that is pleasing to God with respect and awe." (CEB); thankful to be a daughter of the Most High God (John 1:12), Creator of the heavens and earth; thankful for the Gospel's "Good News" of a crucified and risen Savior who is coming soon to gather His children and take them to the place He's prepared for them; thankful as I recall this message from 1 Chronicles 16:8-11 where it is written: "Thank God! Call out his Name! Tell the whole world who he is and what he’s done! Sing to him! Play songs for him! Broadcast all his wonders! Revel in his holy Name, God-seekers, be jubilant! Study God and his strength, seek his presence day and night." (Message); thankful for the thrift-shopping queen who lives with me (and for her sister's willingness to share garments she has shrunk out of!) - it's a challenge to maintain enough space in my little closets and drawers; I'm thankful that my head cold is drying up; thankful for the admonition from Psalm 136:1-2 where we read: "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy, compassion) endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for His lovingkindness endures forever." (AMP); thankful when a spirit of forgiveness overcomes intemperate words or actions; thankful that the others who share this abode are willing and able workers in many areas of life; thankful for this message from 2 Peter 3:10-11 where we read: "...The day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives [we] should live," (NLT); thankful for the Lord's Day - the day He chose as His own to mark the end of His work of Creation (Genesis 2:2-3); I'm thankful for all the channels available thru' my computer that let me join with others in worship when I'm unable to attend our services in person; and thankful for this description of our Savior, Jesus, where He is described as the Word in John 1:1-2 and 14 where it is written: "Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. The Word became a man and lived among us. We saw his divine greatness—the greatness that belongs to the only Son of the Father. The Word was full of grace and truth." (ERV).
