Thanksgiving V ~

11-17 November:  This week I was thankful to realize that wherever my God leads me, He will see me through - for His glory; thankful for every new day of life that He gives me; thankful for the message from 1 John 2:15-16 where we are told: "Don’t fall in love with this corrupt world or worship the things it can offer. Those who love its corrupt ways don’t have the Father’s love living within them. All the things the world can offer to you—the allure of pleasure, the passion to have things, and the pompous sense of superiority—do not come from the Father. These are the rotten fruits of this world." (VOICE); thankful to say "the bug" seems to be faltering in its attack on this aging body; thankful for the marvelous recuperative powers our Creator has hard-wired into the human body (and for natural remedies which are as effective today as they were 150 years ago); thankful for this promise from Isaiah 42:16, paraphrased for us in Eugene Peterson's MESSAGE: "... I’ll take the hand of those who don’t know the way, who can’t see where they’re going.  I’ll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I’ll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don’t fall into the ditch. These are the things I’ll be doing for them—sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute.”  I was thankful for the sunlight streaming through my window, though coming from the farther south section of our sky it is still very much appreciated! I was and always am thankful for the "sun of my soul" - my Savior; thankful for this counsel from 1 Peter 2:15-16 where it is written: "You see, it is God’s will that by doing what is right and good you should hush the gabbing ignorance of the foolish. Live as those who are free and not as those who use their freedom as a pretext for evil, but live as God’s servants." (VOICE); thankful for the little assistive device that amplifies my hearing (and have ordered a more deluxe pair soon to arrive!); thankful for the message about God's ability to hear in Isaiah 65:24; thankful for the counsel found in the book of James, ch. 1:19-20, where it is written: " Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man[kind] does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us]." (AMP); thankful for the light - always a welcome sight in the darkening days as winter approaches; as always, thankful for the sunlight (SON-LIGHT!) in my heart; thankful for the promise in Isaiah 43:1-3 that tells me: "But now, God’s Message...: 'Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God ....'" (MSG); thankful to hear that D.D. #3 and her hubby are on their way from Colorado for a Thanksgiving visit with us; thankful for the flannel sheets that are now installed on my bed for the days of cooler outdoor temps; thankful to echo these words from King David who said: "I have looked for You with all my heart. Do not let me turn from Your Law. Your Word have I hid in my heart, that I may not sin against You. Great and honored are You, O Lord. Teach me Your Law. Open my eyes so that I may see great things from Your Law." (Psalm 119:10-12,18; NLV); thankful to be celebrating another Sabbath, the day our Lord, Himself, chose to mark the end of His work when this planet was formed (Genesis 2:2-3); I'm thankful to have received good news after a visit to a Nephrologist (kidney doc) yesterday - my local provider hasn't missed any of the issues in dealing with my situation; and I was thankful to read this precious promise in Isaiah 44:3 where it is written: "... I will pour water on [those who are] thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring." (MEV).
