Thanksgiving IV ~
5-11 March: This week I've been thankful for the beauty of the new snow - and I will be even more thankful for
spring weather sans snow when it arrives; I am thankful to begin a new
week with anticipation of two weeks (with eldest D.D.) visiting with the
third D.D. in Colorado over the end of this month and the beginning of
April; and I am thankful for this admonition from Deuteronomy 6:6,7:
"These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be [written] on
your heart and mind. You shall teach them diligently to your children
[impressing God’s precepts on their minds and penetrating their hearts
with His truths] and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and
when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up"
(AMP); thankful for the message of the Father's love for all His earth children
revealed in His Word; I'm thankful that our Creator was willing to
leave the courts of heaven to show us how to live from infancy to
adulthood, always doing what pleases the Father (John 8:29); and I am
thankful for these words from 2 Corinthians 5:20,21 where we read: ". . .
We are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, since God is appealing through
us. We are begging on behalf of Christ: 'Be reconciled to God!' He
made the One not having known sin to be sin for us, in order that we
might become the righteousness of God in Him” (DLNT); thankful for "enough" - enough sleep to feel rested in the daylight, for enough
income to take care of my needs, for enough of everything my life
requires; I'm thankful to be alive and able to get around the community
with the help of willing family and friends; and I am thankful to read
this prayer, like mine, from Psalm 139:23,24: "Examine me, God! Look at
my heart! Put me to the test! Know my anxious thoughts! Look to see if
there is any idolatrous way in me, then lead me on the eternal path!"
(CEB); I am thankful to be a child of God - one of the princesses and princes
of the universe awaiting the return of the King; I'm thankful to know
this is NOT an exclusive position, but one open to all who come to
accept Jesus as Lord; and I am thankful for the call here in 2
Corinthians 1:3,4 where we are charged with becoming comforters:
"Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who
comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to
comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the
comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God" (AMP); thankful for the time to develop growing friendships - a delightful activity in
which to spend time; I'm thankful that the lady who is coming to do my
toes next week will also be able to do D.D.'s toes at the same
appointment; and I am thankful for these words of encouragement from 2
Timothy 1:8,9 which call all believers to "... [S]uffer-hardship-with
me for the good-news according-to the power of God: the One having saved
us and called us with a holy calling, not according-to our works but
according to His own purpose and grace— it having been given to us in
Christ Jesus before eternal times" (DLNT); I am thankful for the heartfelt prayer nestled inside the miniature
gift-box given to me by a D.D. a couple of Christmases ago - I don't
open the box often, but I know that prayer works in my behalf; I'm
thankful to have been first at the DW this morning, the D.G.D. rarely
leaves me that helping opportunity; and I am thankful for the "I will. .
. ." promises that mean much to me - an example being this one from
Ezekiel 11:19,20 where we read: ". . . I will give [you] one heart, and I
will put a new spirit within you; . . . that [you] may walk in My
statutes and keep Mine ordinances and do them; and [you] shall be My
people, and I will be [your] God" (THS); thankful to be enjoying another Sabbath, the Creator's
choice for us to remember His work of bringing our planet into existence
(Genesis 2:2,3; Exodus 20:8-11); thankful to be almost ready for the
trip to Colorado to see D.D. #3 for a couple weeks; and I am thankful
for this truth from Deuteronomy 7:9 where we read: "Know, recognize, and
understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful
God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love
Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations" (AMP).
