Thanksgiving III ~
6-12 December: I've been thankful this week for all the Sabbath programming available via
the internet when I'm at home rather than at services; for David
Asscherick's program, "Does Jesus Christ Have A Twin?" (https://www.youtube.com/watch…)
- absolutely amazing presentation; and for the promise of Malachi 3:3: "
Like a refiner of silver he [Jesus, 'the One you are looking for' vs.1]
will sit and closely watch as [your] dross is burned away. . . ."; thankful for the gentle rain and moderate (for December!) temperature
reading; thankful for the friendly genie who comes every other week for
housekeeping assistance; and thankful for the words of Jeremiah
33:20,21: "Thus says the Lord: If you can break my covenant with the day
and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at
their appointed time, then also my covenant . . . may be broken. . . ." -
His Word is SURE! I am thankful for the blessing of last night's sound sleep; for the
anticipation of our days regaining their strength - increasing daylight
hours; and for these words from Proverbs 8:10,11: "Fear of the Lord is
the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good
judgment. Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life"; for local health-care providers in this, our new community - I'll be
meeting one soon for a check on my health status; I'm thankful, too,
for the giggles and grins provided by the resident critters - a grumpy,
feline "elder sister" who doesn't put up with any nonsense from the
others, the playful little "Dandee" dog who wrestles with the two other
cats indiscriminately - but mostly with the youngest, a male of about
the same age - and the kitties give as good as they get, but no blood is
ever shed - just lots of fun for all! I am thankful, most of all, for
the "exceeding great and precious promises" (2 Peter 1:4), the messages
of encouragement. with which His Word is filled; for the rapid resolution to D.D.'s vision disturbance yesterday - and
that she was seen in G'ville, no trip north required - and for friends
who were praying with us; thankful, too, to be able to reschedule my
appointment without any problem; and very thankful for these words from
Isaiah 65:24: "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will
answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear"; for the gift Amaryllis (a.k.a Hippeastrum) flourishing at my window -
the healthy leaf-straps promise a strong bulb which should produce
blossoms in the next actively growing cycle, I can hardly wait! I'm
thankful, too, for all the information available on-line for us as we
learn to grow new plants; and for this message from Matthew 6:28-30: “And
why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not
work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King
Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these
flowers. It is God who clothes the wild grass—grass that is here today
and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't He be all the more sure
to clothe you? What little faith you have!" (Good News Translation); thankful for another of the Creator's Sabbath blessings, a time of rest
and fellowship that He's given to all humankind (Genesis 2:3); thankful
for the warm fellowship shared with my sisters and brothers today; and
for these words from Isaiah 56:6,7: ". . . The Lord says to those
foreigners who become part of his people, who love him and serve him,
who observe the Sabbath and faithfully keep his covenant: 'I will bring .
. . you joy in my house of prayer, . . . a house of prayer for the
people of all nations.'”
