25-31 October: This week, I have been thankful for life and the mercies which the Creator gives
with each day (Lamentations 3:22,23); for the delight of anticipation
as we look forward to breakfast with D.G.D.'s youngest sibling and his
family this morning - interesting, how families grow and change over the
years; and thankful for the assurance that our Father's Word never
returns to Him without fulfilling its purpose (Isaiah 55:11); for the many miles of safe travel provided each week as folks drive back
and forth for work, on errands; for the beautiful and apt assurances that
build faith as I read from the Word; for these words from John Newton's
hymn, "Amazing Grace"; "The Lord hath promised good to me, His word my
hope secures; He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures"; for beautiful, bright blue mornings; for the faithful ministry of
Pastor Steve and Becky Rogers among the four churches where they serve;
for this song of praise from Psalm 118:15,16: "The voice of rejoicing
and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the
Lord does valiantly. The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right
hand of the Lord does valiantly"; to have found vanilla yogurt in the fridge to add to my oatmeal - the
milk carton was empty (;o]); for the sunlight streaming through my
window; for these words from Psalm 119:37: " Turn away my eyes from
looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way"; to have a local pharmacy after dealing with mail-order meds for a while;
for my D.S.I.L.'s willingness to run my errands when he's
out-and-about; and for these words from Psalm 119:89,90: "Forever, O
Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations...."; that the pain in my foot has responded quickly to meds started yesterday
- I can walk more-or-less normally; for rice-and-raisins for my
breakfast - a favorite since childhood; for these words from Psalm
119:57,58: "You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep
Your words. I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; be merciful to
me according to Your word"; to be celebrating another Sabbath, the Creator's own memorial of
beginnings for our planet (Genesis 2:2,3; Exodus 20:8-11); for the
description of Himself God gave to Moses: "And the Lord passed before
him and proclaimed, 'The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious,
longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for
thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin . . . .'"
(Exodus 34:6,7).
