My Year of THanksgiving ~
2 - 8 November: This week I have been thankful for a Sabbath spent in G'ville with my church family to study, sing praises, and worship; for a fine "female rain" as my Navajo friends would call it when it is steady and gentle, blessing soil and growing things; for Bible references to rain assuring me that just as He sends rain to ripen harvests, He will pour out His Spirit to ripen a great harvest of souls for His kingdom; for each new day of life and the grace and mercy that come with the day; for this cozy spot, surrounded by people and things I love; for limbs that respond appropriately and a brain that is mostly coherent; for the word picture in Psalm 125:1,2, a description of our Father as an ever-present, immovable shield around His people; for the change of plans for the canner - seems it can wait until next spring and go with Robert as luggage, HOORAH! I am thankful for adequate sales to meet expenses at ETC. on Tuesday; for Amazing Facts airing the Landmarks of Prophecy series via the internet; for the big jar of Adam's peanut-butter I found on the counter Wednesday morning - no added sugar or oils, just peanuts and a bit of salt - a big "thank you!" to my S.I.L.; for delight in anticipating the arrival of my two other daughters and a S.I.L. arriving from Washington as they travel back to Colorado; for miles of safe travel and their arrival on our doorstep before dark; for a Frontier Communications supervisor willing to waive the "stop service" fee at daughter's request (and refund a portion that had been credited to that fee); for my CO S.I.L. being able to get away for this long trip; for a beautiful, warm day to drive to McCall for shopping and lunch; for the traveling mercies that went with us on the road; for blessings found in thrift-store shopping (my preference is a book or a crossword puzzle in the car, but there is often an obvious delight in the faces of returning shoppers); for Sabbath reminders of God as Creator, source of life in the present and the One who has promised a forever life with Him in the future for all who choose to live for Him; thankful to be enjoying my daughters - all three of them in one place for one more day; for the ex-pat son's safe return to his home in Romania, new bride at his side.
