My Year of Thanksgiving ~

23 - 30 November:  Yes, a bit more than a week, but it completes this year of recording some of the things for which I've been thankful.  These days surrounding the U.S.' official thanksgiving holiday have been filled with things for which I give thanks to the One who provides "Every good gift and every perfect gift . . . ." (James 1:17) .
I've been thankful this week for the net-wide effect of this Thanksgiving holiday and for all who are posting their expressions of gratitude; for cheerful, busy sounds from the kitchen where breakfast prep is in progress; for anticipation of our community's dinner which raises funds to assist travelers who fall on hard times;for sun lighting the hillside to the west - and for Son-shine in my heart!  I am thankful, too, to have heard Pastor Scheline's message of thanks at our community celebration - much appreciated under that family's present circumstances; thankful that even in unhappy times, giving thanks is a decision of the mind - I can always choose to honor the One from whom all blessing flows; for a lifetime of blessing - help in perilous times, comfort in sorrow, His day-by-day presence to cheer and to guide; for psalms and hymns of praise to begin the day; for shelter from the rainy weather; for affirmation of faith like that found in Psalm 147:11; for rest, for the renewal that comes from a night of sound sleep; for the faith-filled adventure Karen Hughes relates in Ten Minutes to Normal; for the spirit of gratitude and praise we celebrate on our Thanksgiving holiday - oh, that we would cease our murmuring and complaining, and give thanks always (1 Thessalonians 5:18); for all those who care for our ill or injured pets (and other creatures) - that enrich our lives so much; for our Savior's promise to prepare a home for all His children (John 14:1,2); for the assurance of His return (vs 3; Revelation 22:12); for the confidence I have in His Word - as Joshua said, ". . . not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you.  All have come to pass for you, not one word of them has failed" (Joshua 23:14); thankful to observe the Creator's own celebration of all He'd accomplished in getting this planet ready for its occupants (Genesis 2:1-3); for this cozy spot for my morning devotions on a cool, rainy morning; for my black Roma - no additions - a necessity recognized from the numbers on my scale!!!
