My Year of Thanksgiving ~
31 August - 6 September: I have been thankful this week for each new day - anticipating its blessings; for trust in the provenance of the Word, confidence in its truths, and the desire to let its counsel guide my life; for that measure of faith given me, and for the assurance that - like my muscles - it will grow and increase with use; for rest when sleep flies from my tired brain after only three hours of slumber; for the ability to put pen to paper and develop a clear sentence after such a night; for dollars added through the sale of this household surplus (and ideas for unloading the rest); for catching up on lost sleep; that psalms I've read over and over in my lifetime continue to have a new "message" to bless me as I read them again; for the realization that where the Word says, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it . . . ." (Psalm 24:1), that includes the house I live in and everything in it. If my "stuff" is His, He will see that it is disposed of in a way that honors His ownership; for cooler weather and sunshine; for the landlord's decision to remove the oil heater and its monstrous indoor fuel tank and replace it with an electric forced-air system;for the plenty remaining in the pantry and freezers, and more good things coming from the garden; for 100% success with the garden beans I processed Thursday evening; for the pleasant 'phone conversation with dear friend; for waking to a new Sabbath morning blessed with the anticipation of worshiping the Lord of the Sabbath with my church family; for the lovely blackberry and peach crisp on the counter, waiting to go with us to services (there is a fellowship dinner following).
