A Year of Thanksgiving

Here begins the record of weekly thanksgivings, I pray I'll be faithful with this plan ~

Issue #1

1 December     Thanks to God for preserving His Word from the attacks of the enemy of souls through thousands of years of human history.  Attempts to destroy or discredit have all failed.  I'm so thankful for its wise counsel, its precious promises.

2 December      Giving thanks this morning for rapid, economical communication with faraway friends via e-mail.  Even more, that my needs are provided - often before I ask.

3 December      Thanks to those who observe, forecast, and record weather conditions, for warnings provided when there's risk to travelers.  Thanks for the moisture the snow brings to this dry country and for the reminder that I can be transformed from a sin-soiled creature to clean, "whiter than snow".

4 December      For the measure of health and strength that remains, for a brain that still works, and for muscles that respond appropriately to its direction.

5 December      For the community gift of fuel-oil, a large tankful, for the insulation my landlord has installed since I've lived here, for warmth inside when it's so cold outside.

6 December      For those "exceeding great and precious promises" in God's Word; for Jesus - His exemplary life, the perfect Lamb Who was born to die - for me, and resurrected Savior - soon coming to claim His people and take us HOME!

7 December      For Sabbath, with its weekly reminders of Creation (Exodus 20:11)and of deliverance (Deuteronomy 5:15), for the cheerful little alarm-clock that chirps to waken me most mornings (I turn it off if I'm sleepless into the "wee hours"), and for recognizing that every day goes better with an early (and regular) start.  This is why the clock doesn't get re-set with twice yearly changes to and from daylight time, its face is hidden and I'm on a regular sleep and eating schedule regardless of what my other clocks show - I guess I'm thankful to be willing to have a 0430 waking time in the winter hours ~
