22-28 January: In the past week, I was thankful for the influence of the Flylady in my life over the most recent twenty years (Wish I were more consistent in applying those principles!); I was thankful for the principles of godly living that are found in the Word and seeking to apply THEM more consistently in my life as well; thankful to know that the main verbs in the following passage are in the Greek form that shows an on-going, continued action - keep ON asking, seeking, knocking - so "Just ask and it will be given to you; seek after it and you will find. Continue to knock and the door will be opened for you. All who ask receive. Those who seek, find what they seek. And [the one] who knocks, will have the door opened." (Matthew 7:7-8, VOICE); thankful for the "exceedingly great and precious promises" that are found in God's Word (2 Peter 1:4); thankful for the truth that I really AM a child of my heavenly Father's family (John 1:12); thankful for this precious promise found in Isaiah 46:4 where it is written: " And when you are old, I will still be there, carrying you. When your limbs grow tired, your eyes are weak, and your hair a silvery gray, I will carry you as I always have. I will carry you and save you." (VOICE); thankful for all the heavenly ministries working in my behalf (and for you, as well!); I was thankful for a conscious that is void of offense (1 John 1:9); thankful for this counsel from Galatians 6:1-2 where it is written: "Brothers and sisters, if a person is caught doing something wrong, you who are spiritual should restore someone like this with a spirit of gentleness. Watch out for yourselves so you won’t be tempted too. Carry each other’s burdens and so you will fulfill the law of Christ." (Complete English Bible); thankful to be a recipient of God's amazing grace day after day; thankful to know I can go to Him when I blunder and He will forgive and wipe the slate clean, giving me a new start; thankful for the counsel given in Philippians 4:8 where this is written: "Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always." (The Passion Translation); thankful for opportunities still available to me in these autumn years of my life; thankful for help where it is needed; thankful for this message from James 4:9-11 where it is written: "... Let God work His will in you. Yell a loud no to the devil and watch him make himself scarce. Say a quiet yes to God and He’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field.... Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet." (Message); thankful to be facing this new Preparation Day with little to complete; thankful for the promise of strength for each day; thankful for the wise counsel of Ephesians 6:12, where we read: ". . . Put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious] (The Amplified Bible); thankful to be celebrating another Sabbath - our Creator's sign of His love and care for the earth (Genesis 2:2-3); thankful for shelter from the snow swirling down outdoors; thankful, too, for these words of praise from Isaiah 25:1: "O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, for You are my God; You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now You have accomplished them, just as You said!" (The Living Bible).
