9-15 January: During the past week, I have been thankful to see sunlight through the clouds overhead; thankful to find the crutch tip I was looking for in order to give a more stable step to another of the elders in this house; thankful for the way the Bible reveals the difference between the methods of our enemy and those of the Spirit - the enemy is called "the accuser" and works to deceive and discourage us into giving up on God, while the Holy Spirit encourages us, corrects in a positive manner, as in Isaiah 30:21 "THIS is the way, walk in IT, when you turn to the right hand or to the left"; My prayer is for each of us to listen for that voice. I was thankful for the opportunity to share these thanks with all who spend a few moments in perusing them - I'm hoping you are blessed; thankful for another day of sunshine coming through the window into my room as I enter these words; thankful for this message found in 1 Peter 1:3-5 where it is written: "Blessed is God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! Because He has raised Jesus the Anointed from death, through His great mercy we have been reborn into a living hope— reborn for an eternal inheritance, held in reserve in heaven, that will never fade or fail. Through faith, God’s power is standing watch, protecting you for a salvation that you will see completely at the end of things." (VOICE); thankful for the helpers who come thru' the week to give D.D. some time away from her role as "caregiver" for the four of us here; thankful that I'll be able to see my physician on short notice, right here in this community; thankful for this reminder from Psalm 118:6 where it is written: "The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can [anyone] do to me?" (NKJV); thankful for the safety provided by angel guardians as we go out and return on the hiways and byways; I was thankful, too, for the service folks who keep things filled, connected in this winter-y weather; thankful for these words from Galatians 3:26-28: "You are all God’s children through faith in Christ Jesus. All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither slave nor free; nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (CEB); thankful that D.D. was available to re-dress the scalded toes - the dressing was too loose by morning to stay in place; thankful for all the love and care that fills this house; thankful as I consider this promise from Isaiah 58:8 where it is written: "Then my favor will bathe you in sunlight until you are like the dawn bursting through a dark night. And then suddenly your healing will manifest. You will see your righteousness march out before you, and the glory of Yahweh will protect you from all harm!" (The Passion Translation); thankful for the daily blessing in recognizing our Father's faithfulness to His Word; thankful for the house we live in and its many comforts; thankful for this message from Isaiah 43:1-3: ". . . Don’t be afraid, for I have ransomed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up—the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, your Savior, the Holy One. . . ." (TLB); thankful to know of the Sabbath given to us "in the Beginning" by the Creator (Genesis 2:2-3) and which we shall still be keeping in the new earth (Isaiah 66:22-23); thankful for the tech experts whose expertise allows me to view our church services from the living room here; and I was thankful to consider these words from John 8:31-32 where this is written: "Jesus said to the people who believed in him, 'You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'” (NLT).
