Thanksgiving VIII ~

3-9 October:  During the past week, I  have been thankful for each new day of life and the assurance given of strength for its needs; thankful for "enough" - enough water to drink, air to breathe, enough groceries in pantry and fridge, enough of ALL I need; thankful for this promise in 1 Peter 1:3-5 where we read: "What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have Him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole." (MSG); thankful that the Facebook website came back on-line after "not in service" thru' the morning and most of the afternoon; thankful for resources to cover new health care costs; thankful for this cautionary note from Proverbs 27:1 where it is written: "Never brag about the plans you have for tomorrow, for you don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring to you." (The Passion Translation); thankful for the quick warming of the bathroom before I shower - the thermostat sits at 68 degrees unless the eldest D.D. or I want to shower, and that is MUCH too cool for this old lady; thankful for heated water straight from the tap - as I remember days where that couldn't be obtained; thankful to remember this promise from Isaiah 44:3 where it is written: "I will pour water for thirsty people, and streams will flow through the desert. I will pour my Spirit on your children, and I will bless your family." (Easy-to-Read Version); thankful for my six children and their families - all so dear to me; thankful for the commandments and counsel that are found in God's Word; thankful for this message from Isaiah 26:3-4 where it is written: "People with their minds set on you, You keep completely whole, steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit. Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing." (MSG); thankful for the legs that can still carry me through each day, with the assistance of my walker; thankful to my heavenly Father for the eyesight with which to see the beauty of the world around me; thankful for this message from Isaiah 43:11-12 where it is written: "'I, I am the Lord, and there is no Savior besides Me. I announced, I saved, I proclaimed, not some stranger among you. You are my witnesses,' says the Lord, 'and I am God.'" (CEB); thankful to greet another of God's precious Sabbath days, the day He calls His own, chosen as the weekly memorial of His activity in forming and filling our planet (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:11; Mark 2:27-28); thankful for the internet connection with my church home and other places where worship is going on; and I was thankful for this admonition from Deuteronomy 13:3-4 where it is written: "... The Lord your God is testing you to see if you love the Lord your God with all your mind and all your being. You must follow the Lord your God alone! Revere Him! Follow His commandments! Obey His voice! Worship Him! Cling to Him—no other!" (CEB).
