Thanksgiving VI ~
25-31 August: This week, I have been thankful for the successful Kids' Clothing Swap that was held at our church last Sunday; thankful for the sturdy handrails for the indoors stairway at our house; thankful for these words from Isaiah 65:24: ". . . Before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear."; thankful some mornings to be free from any of the discomforts that growing older brings and to be able to move around on level surfaces without assistive devices; thankful for all the prayers ascending for the D.S. with Multiple Myeloma and the prayers for successful treatment of same; thankful for this message from Romans12:3-6 where it is written: "... I can respectfully tell you not to think of yourselves as being more important than you are; devote your minds to sound judgment since God has assigned to each of us a measure of faith. For in the same way that one body has so many different parts, each with different functions; we, too—the many—are different parts that form one body in the Anointed One. Each one of us is joined with one another, and we become together what we could not be alone. Since our gifts vary depending on the grace poured out on each of us, it is important that we exercise the gifts we have been given...." (VOICE); thankful to see the mighty efforts of several I know who are "helpers" in spite of pain; thankful for our Father's generous providence for all our needs; thankful for this promise from Isaiah 26:3-4 where it is written: "You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You. Trust in the Lord forever, because in Yah, the Lord, is an everlasting rock!" (HCSB); thankful for memories of dear friends, from near and far, who have blessed my life thru' the years; thankful for this thought: Admire means to love with the MIND!; thankful for this truth, found in John 6:29, where Jesus said: "If you want to do God’s work, then believe in the One He sent." (VOICE); thankful for a new day of sunlight, curtained by clouds, but still doing its work in spite of not being seen; thankful for eyes to see the textures and shades of all the foliage in view from my window; thankful for this promise to all those who hope in the Lord, a promise found in Zechariah 9:12 where it is written: "Return to the stronghold [of security and prosperity], you prisoners of hope; even today do I declare that I will restore double your former prosperity to you." (AMPC); thankful for the "otherness" of the Father's love as He gave His Son to become one like us; thankful for the promise Jesus gave of the Holy Spirit who comforts, helps, strengthens, and guides; thankful for these words from Ephesians 2:18-20 where they are written: " For it is through Him that we both [whether far off or near] now have an introduction (access) by one [Holy] Spirit to the Father [so that we are able to approach Him]. Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God’s own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God’s [own] household. You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone." (AMPC); thankful to be observing another Sabbath, the day our Lord claims for His own (Mark 2:27-28); thankful for Sabbath morning sunlight (and SON-light, too!); thankful for this beautiful hymn of praise from Psalm 95:3-7 where it is written: "... The Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is His also. The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand...."
