Thanksgiving VI ~
12-18 May: Last week, I was thankful to see the early morning sunlight filtering through the leaves on the Horse-chestnut tree outside my window. Those leaves - as yet - are small, but when the flowering is finished they will provide more complete shade from the sun; thankful for the helpers working with D.S.I.L. on the re-roofing project; thankful for this description of a "woman of valor" in Proverbs 31:10-11 where we read: "Who can find a truly excellent woman? One who is superior in all that she is and all that she does? Her worth far exceeds that of rubies and expensive jewelry. She inspires trust, and her husband’s heart is safe with her, and because of her, he has every good thing." (VOICE); thankful that eldest D.D. is willing to walk with me as I make those little excursions with my walker after meals - good for both of us! I was thankful for the One who is "best friend" to all who will invite Him into their lives; thankful for this assurance from Isaiah 41:13 where it is written: "I am the Lord your God. I am holding your hand, so don’t be afraid. I am here to help you." (CEV); thankful that my dear sister has come from B.C. to help celebrate my birthday next Sunday; thankful for the bandage on my forearm that covers the seven tiny suture tails showing where a suspect lesion was excised on Monday; thankful for these words of praise from Psalm 139:13-14 where the Word says: "...You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well." (WEB); thankful for a dry path to walk - forecast was "showers likely"; I was thankful for the alert from Google that my blog is not available due to a glitch in the system - hope to have it back up soon; I was thankful for this reminder from Ecclesiastes 11:5 where it is written: "Just as you don’t know how the breath of life enters the limbs of a child within its mother’s womb, you also don’t understand how God, who made everything, works." (GW); thankful to have family gathering 'round me to celebrate my eightieth birthday on the 19th; thankful I've been able to get the p.c. (after meals) ambulation to which I have committed done every day without getting dampened by the showers in the forecast (and thankful to discover the rain poncho in the closet - just in case!); always thankful to read this message from Zephaniah 3:17 where it is written: “The Lord your God is in your midst, a Warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy; He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy." (AMP); thankful D.D. #3 has arrived for my birthday celebration - all three daughters and my dear sister have come for the festivities; I'm thankful for the aromas of Sabbath prep in progress; and I am thankful for the truth in these words from Romans 11:33-34 where we read: "How very rich are God’s wisdom and knowledge! How He judges is more than we can understand! The way he deals with people is more than we can know! 'Who can ever know what the Lord is thinking? Or who can ever give him advice?' (cf Isaiah 40:13)" (NIRV); thankful anticipating a grand Sabbath gathering with many family members who've come to help me celebrate my birthday Sunday; thankful for the "partly sunny" weather forecast; and thankful for this message that is found in Hebrews 6:10-11 where we read: "God is always fair. He will remember how you helped His people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and He won’t forget the love you have shown His people. We wish that each of you would always be eager to show how strong and lasting your hope really is" (CEV).
