Thanksgiving V ~
9-15 September: This week, I was thankful that the tummy-ache which wakened me in the middle of last 0Saturday night eventually resolved without any dire consequences; thankful for the sunlight flooding my room; thankful to read these words from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 where it reads: "Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work." (NKJV); thankful that eldest D.D. has the opportunity to do her rehab post knee replacement here in Cottonwood - St. Mary's Hospital has a swing-bed program for that service; thankful for the technology that provides the ability to replace damaged joints; thankful for this precious "I will ...." promise from Isaiah 46:3-4 where it is written: "... I have created you and cared for you since you were born. I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes, even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I will carry you along and be your Savior." (TLB); thankful to see a continuing downward trend on my bathroom scale - have to give WW some credit but the trend began with a decision to move toward a Whole-foods, Plant Based program about 40 #s ago; thankful for the memories of those who came together as one to assist in our nation's recovery 17 years ago - bless 'em all! Thankful for the praise song to the Father who cares for us found in Psalm 121:1-2 where it is written: "I look to the hills! Where will I find help? It will come from the Lord, who created the heavens and the earth." (CEV); thankful to wake a bit earlier than my usual time to arise (and discover the others in the house also up and bustling about!); thankful for others who are also early at work, like the fellows who pick up the trash - even on holidays (or at least MOST holidays); thankful for this counsel from 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18: "Be praying unceasingly, be giving-thanks in everything. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (DLNT); thankful I've found the source of a Bible quote that has been stuck in my prayers and brain for weeks; thankful for another slightly early awakening (maybe I should nudge the setting back by ten minutes?),thankful for this counsel from 1 Peter 3:8-12 where we read: "To sum up, you should all be of one mind living like [family] with true love and sympathy for each other, generous and courteous at all times. Never pay back a bad turn with a bad turn or an insult with another insult, but on the contrary pay back with good. For this is your calling—to do good and one day to inherit all the goodness of God. For: ‘He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile: let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers....'" (PHILLIPS); thankful for some time with my housemate D.D. as we pass during the beginnings of our days - doesn't always happen; thankful that the first load of laundry is whirling in the washer; thankful again as I think about this promise from Ezekiel 36:25-27 where it is written: "... I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your uncleanness .... Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My ordinances and do them." (AMP); thankful for another Sabbath, anticipating a day of study and prayer, with praise and worship and fellowship with our church family (at 280 North U.S. 95 - come on over and join us if you are in the Grangeville,ID area on a Saturday morning! Bible study begins at 10:00, worship later, after 11:00.); thankful for the broadcasts from HopeTV.com and 3ABN, as well as IIW.com, and Amazing Facts.TV with many others that bring blessings over the i-net; and thankful as I read these words from 1 John 4:15-16 where it is written: "If anyone unites with our confession that Jesus is God’s own Son, then God truly lives in that person and that person lives in God. We have experienced and we have entrusted our lives to the love of God in us. God is love. Anyone who lives faithfully in love also lives faithfully in God, and God lives in him.: (VOICE).
