Thanksgiving V ~
19-25 August: This past week, I was thankful for the rest, the sleep of the night - and especially thankful for waking, sans alarm, only ten minutes after my usual wake-up time (sleep doesn't always come on schedule!); thankful for ALL the "exceeding great and precious promises" available to me in God's Word; and always thankful to read the words Peter used to describe this blessing in 2 Peter 1:3-4 where this is written: "... His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has bestowed on us His precious and magnificent promises [of inexpressible value], so that by them you may escape from the immoral freedom that is in the world because of disreputable desire, and become sharers of the divine nature." (AMP); thankful for the blessings of life, improving health and strength, for increasing energy day by day; thankful for the beauty that surrounds me in this place where I live; thankful for these words from Psalm 16:7-8 where it is written: "I will bless the Eternal, whose wise teaching orchestrates my days and centers my mind at night. He is ever present with me; at all times He goes before me. I will not live in fear or abandon my calling because He stands at my right hand." (VOICE); thankful for the presence of a D.G.D. who is with us for a while - a real delight! I've been thankful for the ability to order needed items via the internet with PayPal as the payer rather than my card or check; thankful to echo these words from Psalm 42:8 where it is written: "Every day, You are kind, and at night You give me a song as my prayer to You, the living Lord God." (CEV); thankful for this new variety of grapes - Sweet Sapphire - long, finger-like black grapes that are crispy and sweet; thankful for an appointment with my personal physician later in the afternoon (and D.D. being available to provide transportation at that time); thankful for this truth from Romans 8:31-32 where it is written: "... If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (KJV); thankful for another good report from my M.D. and the lifting of the 1.5 liter restriction on fluid intake; thankful for the concept that if something has been boxed up since three years ago it really isn't needed - out it goes! I was thankful to repeat these words from Psalm 94:18-19 where it is written: "When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!" (AMPC); thankful to have my last load of laundry in the dryer - the earlier load folded and mostly put away; thankful for less smokey skies today; thankful to share these words from Psalm 116:1-2 where it is written: "I love you, Lord! You answered my prayers. You paid attention to me, and so I will pray to You as long as I live." (CEV); thankful to be celebrating another Sabbath - the Creator's choice of the day for worship, a day He Himself set apart when this world began (Genesis 2:2-3); thankful to be able to join our church family in study and prayer, in worship, praise, and fellowship today - it's been a lo-o-o-ng time; and I was thankful for the truth of these words from Psalm 119:165 where it is written: "You give peace of mind to all who love your Law. Nothing can make them fall." (CEV).
