Thanksgiving V ~
21-26 January: This week I was thankful for sleep - one of the Father's best blessings; thankful
for specialty hand-soap with a rosemary-mint fragrance; thankful for
the warning in the words of Galatians 6:7-8 where we read: "Make no
mistake, God is not mocked. A person will harvest what they plant.
Those who plant only for their own benefit will harvest devastation from
their selfishness, but those who plant for the benefit of the Spirit
will harvest eternal life from the Spirit." (CEB); thankful to see the little birds - mostly Goldfinches and House Finches -
busy at the feeders D.D. has filled outside my window; thankful for the
sunshine in my heart; thankful for this message from Isaiah 12:2-3
where it is written: "Indeed, God is my salvation; I will trust Him and
not be afraid, for Yah, the Lord, is my strength and my song. He has
become my salvation. [I] will joyfully draw water from the springs of
salvation." (HCSB); thankful for the "exceedingly great and precious promises" that are
found in God's Word (2 Peter 1:4); thankful for the truth that I am
really a child of my heavenly Father's family (John 1:12); thankful
for this precious promise found in Isaiah 46:4 where it is written: "
And when you are old, I will still be there, carrying you. When your
limbs grow tired, your eyes are weak, and your hair a silvery gray, I
will carry you as I always have. I will carry you and save you."
(VOICE); thankful to be on schedule to complete my "30-days Through the Bible"
program - the Books of Moses and of History are finished, only Canticles
(Song of Solomon) tomorrow to finish the Wisdom Books - all will be
done on the 29th of January; thankful for the privilege of prayer - the
thought that our Father's ears are tuned to hear our praises and
petitions; thankful for Paul's counsel from Galatians 6:1-2 where we
read: "... If any person is overtaken
in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are
responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and
restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all
gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be
tempted also. Bear (endure, carry) one another’s burdens and
troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly
the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete what is lacking [in your
obedience to it]." (AMPC); thankful for the folks out running the equipment to clear the roads of
snow - making driving less risky for others; thankful to be in a warm,
dry dwelling; thankful for the counsel found in
Philippians 4:6-8: " Don’t worry over anything whatever; tell God every
detail of your needs in earnest and thankful prayer, and the peace of
God which transcends human understanding, will keep constant guard over
your hearts and minds as they rest in Christ Jesus. Here is a last piece
of advice. If you believe in goodness and if you value the approval of
God, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and
beautiful and good" (PHILLIPS); thankful for the worldwide internet that allows connection with family
and friends both near and far away; thankful for the Bible Gateway site
that provides access to many translations and paraphrases from the
Bible; and thankful to join the prophet Isaiah with these words of
praise: "O Lord, you are my God! I will exalt you in praise, I will
extol your fame. For you have done extraordinary things, and executed
plans made long ago exactly as you decreed." (Isaiah 25:1; NET).
