Thanksgiving V ~

7-13 January:  Last week, I was thankful for the rest and the sleep provided by the One who knows ALL our needs; thankful in anticipation of the "Pampered Feet" nurse who was coming Sunday morning; thankful for the message of the apostle, Paul, in Philippians 4:6 that reads: "Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God." (AMP);  thankful for the warm sunshine streaming through my window; thankful for the mind and body that functions as well as it does; thankful for the counsel from Amos 5:14-15 where it is written: "If you really want to live, you must stop doing wrong and start doing right. I, the Lord God All-Powerful, will then be on your side, just as you claim I am. Choose good instead of evil! See that justice is done...." (CEV); thankful to wake early with a song in my heart; thankful for the feline friend that seems to have chosen me for her human - she's a sometimes grumpy old-lady cat, but mostly stays in my room on the bed, in the closet, or on the chest in front of the window;  thankful for the savings account described in Matthew 6:19-21: "Don’t store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your heart will always be where your treasure is." (CEV); thankful that God's Word has been preserved for us today in spite of the enemy's efforts to destroy it; thankful for the members of Christ's body, ALL of them, who live and work in this wide world; thankful that the messages I find in His Word are still messages that guide my steps in His path, make me helpful to others, correct me when I'm wrong, and teach me how to live for Him (2 Timothy 3:16); thankful for the warm, dry house under which roof I live; thankful to know of the "preparation day" concept - what a blessing for all who keep Sabbaths; thankful for this message from Galatians 3:26-28 that reads: "All of you are God’s children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. And when you were baptized, it was as though you had put on Christ in the same way you put on new clothes. Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other ...." (CEV); thankful for a new Sabbath morning with all the blessings - improved health, adequate strength for the day, clear mental processes - the Father provides; thankful for the programming that is available on hopetv.org, 3ABN, and other sites via my computer; and thankful for this message from 2 Corinthians 5:19,20 where we read: "... God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace. We were sent to speak for Christ, and God is begging you to listen to our message. We speak for Christ and sincerely ask you to make peace with God." (CEV).
