Thanksgiving IV ~

6-12 August:  This week I have been thankful for the conviction that God's law is an eternal transcript of His character and is a description of His people, rather than a list of "can'ts"; thankful for the message of Jesus that tells us how to show our love for Him; and thankful that the apostle, John, recorded this message again and again (John 14:15; ch.15:10; 1 John 5:3); thankful for the memory of a glorious call to worship shared with our former church in Las Vegas and known in our present church home as well - "Come, let us worship the Lord . . . . " - the hymn-writer/composer area was blank on the manuscript copy I was given; thankful that my current schedule allows for nap-time when sleep is cut short; and thankful for the message from Genesis 3:15 where the Savior of us all is promised: "I will make you and the woman enemies to each other. Your children and her children will be enemies. You will bite her Child’s foot; but He will crush your head.” (ERV); thankful to know that all the promises in God's Word are mine; thankful to understand that I am included in that wonderful word "whosoever"; and always thankful for these words from the lips of Jesus: ". . . God loved the world so much that He gave his only Son, so that every one who believes in Him shall not be lost, but should have eternal life." (John 3:16; PHILLIPS); thankful for the good news about Mephibosheth, the little "hop-a-along" kitten being fostered here while he's awaiting his permanent home; thankful for all the critters who make our home a gladsome place; and I am thankful for this message from Luke 12:6,7: "Aren’t five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them is overlooked by God. Even the hairs on your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows." (CEB); thankful for the prayer circles we can make among our families and friends to pray for each other - as well as following the counsel of Jesus to pray for those who don't have our best interests at heart; thankful for God's blessings that are poured out on us with each new day; and thankful for these words from Psalm 46:1,2: "God is our refuge and strength, a help in distresses, very readily found. Therefore will we not fear though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the heart of the seas." (DARBY); thankful to have been invited to share more blessings from God's Word - it"s been a blessing to me as well; thankful for the forecast of clearing of the smokey skies for the Leonid meteor shower in the pre-dawn hours tomorrow morning; thankful for this message from our God: ". . . Know that I am watching over My word until it is accomplished." (Jeremiah 1:12; VOICE); thankful for another Sabbath - the opportunity to remember the Creator on the day He calls His own; thankful for all the sites that offer worship, study, and praise on the inter-net; and thankful for this reminder from 1 Corinthians 6:19,20: ". . . Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit in you, Whom you have from God? And you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body." (DLNT).
