Thanksgiving IV ~
23-29 April: This week I was thankful for the beautiful day we were given to go exploring on the road to the river then up and over Debque to White Bird via the west side of
the Salmon - a road not before traveled; thankful to be anticipating
another road trip with my sis over this (long) weekend that's coming;
and thankful to join the psalmist and say: "I will give thanks to
the Lord because He is right and good. I will sing praise to the name of
the Lord Most High" (Psalm 7:17; NLV); thankful for a new day of life and for the measures of strength and
health that remain after all the years of life that have passed;
thankful to be blessed with six wonderful grown-up sons and daughters
(and their spouses); and I am thankful for this counsel for believers
from 1 Peter 1:18, 19 where we read: "Live in this way, knowing that you
were not liberated by perishable things like silver or gold from the
empty lifestyle you inherited from your ancestors. Instead, you were
liberated by the precious blood of Christ, like that of a flawless,
spotless lamb" (CEB); thankful to live in a place where others don't tell me how I
must worship the Creator; thankful to know the blessings of the Sabbath
He gave - not just from Sinai but in this planet's beginning; and
thankful to be one of those "to whom God willed to make-known what is
the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles— which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory, whom we are proclaiming, admonishing
every person, and teaching every person with all wisdom, in order that
we may present every person mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:27,28; DLNT); thankful to finish up the preparations for this long-weekend trip
with D.D., then with my sis through OR and back up along the coast and
the Columbia River; thankful that I can confidently bring the things
that I lack to my Father's throne, trusting His all-seeing eye to
determine the how, the when; thankful for this message from 1 Peter
5:5-7: ". . . You should all have a humble attitude in dealing with each
other. 'God is against the proud, but He is kind to the humble.' So be
humble under God’s powerful hand. Then He will lift you up when the
right time comes. Give all your worries to Him, because He cares for
you" (ERV); thankful for guardian angels "encamping round about" us day
and night; thankful for all the miles of accident free driving this
family has accomplished with their assistance; and I am thankful that
God is still keeping this promise, as recorded in Joshua 1:5 where we
read: ". . . I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will always be
with you; I will never abandon you" (GNT); thankful for safe travel to The Dalles and for sister's early arrival; for our AirB'n'B host's kindness when we arrived after the posted check-in time, and he had already departed, but returned to let us in; thankful for these words from John 12:46 where we read: "I have come as a Light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer wander in the darkness" (TLB); for a beautiful Sabbath morning in Grants Pass where we were part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration for the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church School (I was a student there from 1947-1951); for the beauty of the snow-covered Cascades as we traveled along the east side of the entire range Friday - a route I'd never taken before; and so thankful for the message of John 14:13 where we read: "You can ask [My Father] for anything, using My name, and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you" (TLB).
