There have been many reasons for gratitude this past week, including just being thankful for each new day and the blessings that come with it; for hot water from the tap that makes quick work of so many tasks; for dirty dishes, evidence of times of delightful fellowship with family and friends; for enough - for a sufficiency of resources to meet my needs and to share; for a working memory - Psalm 103 is in the file, a little rough yet, but polishing up nicely; for the "do-overs" grace provides when I blunder; for a God who loves me - warts and all - but loves me too much to let me stay in that condition; I'm thankful for the drawing power of that love (Jeremiah 31:3) that is bringing me ever closer to what He wants me to be; for the promises of a forever life for "whosoever" - and that SURELY means me! I'm thankful for finding some of the things I needed on our "thrifting" expedition to Kooskia, Orofino, and Lewiston; for safe traveling; getting home before dark; for spots of sunshine in an otherwise dreary day; for Stefanie's soup package; for the unexpectedly quick clean-up for Lucy-cat's "necessary" in preparation for her owners brief return; for another fresh, new day with anticipation of good things to come; for a knowledge of sewing that will make "thrifting" even more a blessing; for my clothes dryer in drippy, cold weather.
I'm thankful today for the
blessing of Sabbath; for being wakened at 0200 instead of sleeping
through the fire that surely would have started soon had I not woke up
to find a house full of smoke outside my bedroom door and corrected the
2330 error when I thought I'd turned the granola-filled oven OFF, but
turned it UP instead (note to self: Make granola in the evening to bake,
without any temperature adjustments, through the night); and I'm
thankful for the dawning idea, a bit later, to remove the smoking
granola cinders to the sink where I could drown them and kill the source
of the smoke. Sincerely thanking God for another day of life!
