Thanksgiving VI ~

2-8 December:  This past week, I have been thankful to enjoy the delightful waffle prepared by D.D. to go with my breakfast fruit; thankful to be able to hobble through the house (but I prob'ly should be using my stick!); thankful for the confirmation of my belief in the Creator as given in the book of Hebrews 1:1-2 where we read: "God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world." (NASB); thankful for the supply of the potent NSAIDs I am NOT supposed to use which let me get sound sleep and rest in the night (after two nights tossing and turning thru' the night!); thankful for less discomfort when walking this morning; thankful to see the mighty work being done in far away places as prophesied in Habakkuk 1:5 where God said: “Look at the other nations! Watch them, and you will be amazed. I will do something in your lifetime that will amaze you. You would not believe it even if you were told about it." (ERV); thankful for bright sunlight beaming at my window - what a blessing for this south-westerner's heart; thankful to again be able to walk without discomfort; thankful for the message of Jesus recorded in John 8:12 where we read: "Later, in one of his talks, Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. So if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.” (TLB); thankful to have all systems operating as they should for a woman who has known almost 80 years; thankful for the ability to do the housekeeping in my bed/sitting room, even tipping the recliner to run the dust-mop under that; thankful to know the Good Shepherd who said: "... I tell you the truth: I am the gate of the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be liberated, will go in and go out, and will find pastures. The thief approaches with malicious intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy; I came to give life with joy and abundance." (John 10:7,9-10; VOICE); thankful to have the little book, Steps to Christ, available in so many formats - hard copy to virtual reading - what a blessing to all who peruse its pages; thankful for the tele-connections with medical specialists in cities around us, saving travel expenses for patients; thankful for this promise to God's people, found in Hosea 2:14-15 where it is written: "... I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there. I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope...." (NLT); thankful for the joyful anticipation of the Sabbath hours that arrive when the sun goes down; thankful to know of the Creator who included this weekly appointment in His work, knowing our need for a pause in the busy-ness of our lives; thankful for this precious "I will ...." promise, one of my favorites, in Ezekiel 11:19-20 (and repeated in chapter 36:26) where we read: "I will give them a new will—an undivided heart—and plant a new spirit within them; I will remove their cold, stony heart and replace it with a warm heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow My commands and uphold My laws and actually do as I say. They will be My people, and I will be their God." (VOICE); thankful for the opportunity of celebrating the Sabbath of the LORD, my God, on the day that He chose as His creation work was completed (Genesis 2:2-3); I'm thankful for sound sleep and the mental defragmentation the Creator built into our brains as part of the sleep process; and thankful for this message from Jesus as recorded in John 14:6 where it is written: "... ' I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.'" (NASB).
